Craft Beer Puerto Rico announces the collaboartion of Brewery Ommegang and Old Harbor Brewery.
Recently, the legendary Brewery Ommegang (OMG) brewery, located in Cooperstown, New York invited Old Harbor Brewery (OHB) to brew a new beer. This collaboration was possible thanks to Craft Beer Puerto Rico.
“Our goal at Craft Beer Puerto Rico is to promote the rapid growth of the craft beer market on the Island, in this case through Neon Tides, that unites two of the best and mos trespected breweries. There is no better way to innovate than to do a collaboration between two brands recognized by our consumers. Furthermore, this alliance allows us to continue developing our relationship with Duvel /Brewery Ommegang/ Boulevard Brewing and Brasserie D’Achouffe,” said Joey Maldonado, Senior Brand Manager of Ballester Hermanos, who was in charge of facilitating this collaboration.
The invitation is not given in a vacuum, but Ommegang knows Puerto Rico’s passion for supporting their high quality craft beer. So, from the beginning of October 2023, the brewmasters José Carlos González, from OHB, and Justin Lottridge, from OMG, were talking and at the end of October 2023, OMG invited the Old Harbor Brewery team to create a fusion of flavors between their beer and the one made in Puerto Rico.
This is how they traveled to Cooperstown, (city where the “National Baseball Hall of Fame” is located), in New York, Joey Maldonado, José Carlos González, OHB Brewmaster and Humberto Díaz, Sales HBO Manager. Waiting for you at Ommegang were Eric Pugh, Sales Manager, Joe Green, Quality Control Manager, Justin Lottridge, Brewmaster and Jordan Egbert, Brand Manager. After two tests, Neon Tides was brewed, a cold-fermented Cold IPA beer. It is a refreshing, clean beer, light body, with 6% alcohol by volume (ABV) and contains 26 IBU (International Bitterness Unit).
The name of the beer is part of this fusion between OHB and OMG. Neon by OMG and Tides of OHB. Tides is the new brand of OHB beers, Tropical Tides and Hoppy Tides. It should be noted that, Neon Tides joins Neon Rainbows, which is the #1 selling IPA beer in the beer portfolio handcrafted by Ballester Hermanos.
Neon Tides is available in 16-ounce “4-packs” at specialty beer stores, around the island

There will also be two launch parties to celebrate the arrival of Neon Tides to Puerto Rico: Friday Feb 2 @ la Taberna Boricua (San Juan at 4pm and La Esquinita (Bayamon) at 6pm.
