As Old San Juan prepares for another high-energy edition of the San Sebastián Street Festival, Boxlab Brewing Co. announces the launch of CABEZUDO, a beer created exclusively for Puerto Rico’s most iconic street celebration. Taking place from January 15 – 18, 2026, SanSe once again transforms the historic city into a living stage of music, art, and culture and CABEZUDO was brewed specifically to be part of that experience. The release also continues the celebration of Boxlab’s recent opening in Old San Juan, marking an important new chapter for the brewery.

A Beer Brewed for La SanSe
CABEZUDO is a Kveik Lager, a lager brewed with Nordic yeast known for clean fermentation and expressive character. At 6% ABV, it delivers balance and refreshment, making it well suited for long festival days and crowded nights in Old San Juan. The profile is crisp and approachable, yet flavorful enough to stand out amid the intensity of San Sebastián.
Designed with movement and celebration in mind, CABEZUDO is meant to be enjoyed between plazas, parades, and live music sets. For visitors and locals searching for craft beer during San Sebastián 2026, this release was built to match the pace and energy of the festival itself.
Exclusive Festival Availability
True to its purpose, CABEZUDO will be available only on draft and only during the festival. The beer will pour exclusively at Boxlab at El Champi, located at 72 Caleta Street, Old San Juan, directly across from the San Juan Cathedral.
Where to Drink CABEZUDO

Once the San Sebastián Street Festival ends, CABEZUDO disappears with it, reinforcing its status as a true festival-only release.
Label Art Rooted in Puerto Rican History
Beyond the beer, CABEZUDO stands out through its label artwork, which pays homage to three influential figures from Aguadilla, honoring Boxlab’s roots as a brewery founded in the island’s northwest region.
Honored Figures from Aguadilla
- Rafael Hernández – universal composer and pillar of Puerto Rican music.
- Ana Duprey – educator and activist dedicated to culture and critical thinking.
- José de Diego – lawyer, poet, and key leader of the Puerto Rican autonomist movement.
The artwork was created by Derick Rivera, the artist and designer behind Boxlab’s graphic identity for more than ten years. His work continues to define an aesthetic that connects history, art, and Puerto Rican craft beer into a unified visual language.
CABEZUDO is More Than Just the Beer
In addition to CABEZUDO, Boxlab will release exclusive festival merchandise during La SanSe, available only at its Old San Juan location. These limited items further mark the occasion and celebrate the brewery’s presence in the heart of the city.
Why CABEZUDO Matters
CABEZUDO represents more than a new beer. It reflects timing, place, and identity. The release connects Boxlab’s Aguadilla origins with its Old San Juan future, blending culture, history, and craft beer during one of Puerto Rico’s most important annual celebrations.
For anyone attending the San Sebastián Street Festival 2026, CABEZUDO is a beer that belongs exactly where it’s poured, right in the middle of the celebration.
