This weekend just in time for Christmas Cold Blood Brewery will have their 2022 version of Barbanegra (Blackbeard in English), available at their Taproom in Quebradillas.
Barbanegra is an Imperial Whiskey Stout that comes in at 10.5% ABV and it is the beer that started the journey for Cold Blood Brewing when it won first place in the Porter and Stout Category in the 2017 Puerto Rican Homebrew Competition.
Toasted oak soaked in Scotch Whiskey is added to Barbanegra after fermentation and then the beer is allowed to rest for 4 months. It is then carbonated and allowed to mature for several months until it reaches the point where its flavors and aromas of whiskey, wood, coffee and chocolate reach perfection.
Barbanegra will be available this weekend at Cold Blood Brewery’s Taproom in Quebradillas along with; Matabuey – Amber Ale 5.3% ABV, Puente la Bellaca – IPA 6.9% ABV) Pirata – Imperial Stout 8.2% ABV, 00678 – Blonde Ale 4.2% ABV and a selection of local Puerto Rican guest beers
