Two west coast breweries are coming together for a new limited release with a purpose beyond the beer. MPA: De Faro a Faro is a 4.4% ABV Coco Lima Lager brewed by Boxlab Brewing Co. and Rincón Beer Company with Pilsner malt, coconut, and lime. The collaboration supports the campaign to establish the Aguadilla Bay Fishing and Conservation Reserve, connecting the beer directly to the coastline that inspired its name.

The limited release makes its debut Friday, October 2 at The Beer Box in Aguadilla, where beer drinkers can be among the first to try MPA: De Faro a Faro while learning more about the conservation proposal and the effort to protect the waters shared by Aguadilla and Rincón.

A Coco Lima Lager Inspired by the Coast

At 4.4% ABV, De Faro a Faro keeps things relatively light, with Pilsner malt providing the lager foundation and coconut and lime bringing tropical elements into the recipe.

Official tasting notes detailing exactly how those ingredients present themselves in the finished beer have not yet been released, so we’re not going to assume whether the beer leans more toward coconut, citrus, or an even balance between the two.

What is clear is that the ingredient combination fits naturally with the coastal identity behind the collaboration. Even the can carries that story forward, depicting the bay and its lighthouses while incorporating the conservation campaign directly into the design.

From Lighthouse to Lighthouse

The name De Faro a Faro (From Lighthouse to Lighthouse) refers to the coastline stretching from the Punta Borinquen Lighthouse in Aguadilla to the Rincón Lighthouse.

It’s a fitting name for a collaboration between Boxlab and Rincón Beer Company, but there’s a deeper meaning behind it.

The two landmarks represent opposite ends of a shared coastal environment that supports marine life as well as fishing, recreation, tourism, and communities that depend on these waters.

De Faro a Faro was created to bring attention to the campaign for the proposed Aguadilla Bay Fishing and Conservation Reserve and encourage more people to learn about efforts to protect the bay and its marine resources.

The MPA name reinforces that purpose, referencing the concept of a Marine Protected Area and putting the conservation message front and center on the beer itself.

October 2 Launch at The Beer Box

The first release of MPA: De Faro a Faro takes place Friday, October 2 at The Beer Box in Aguadilla.

The launch is being presented as both a beer release and an opportunity to learn more about the campaign for the Aguadilla Bay Fishing and Conservation Reserve. Visitors can learn about the proposal, connect with people working on the initiative, and add their signatures to the petition supporting the effort.

The event will also feature music by Bomba de la Mar and a kitchen takeover by La Chona, turning the first release into a broader gathering centered around the beer, the bay, and the community behind the conservation campaign.

MPA: De Faro a Faro is a Limited Release in 12-Ounce Cans

MPA: De Faro a Faro will be released exclusively in 12-ounce cans, with limited quantities available.

Following the initial launch, look for cans at:

  • The Beer Box, Aguadilla
  • Boxlab Old San Juan
  • Rincón Beer Company

The can itself also plays a role in the campaign. Its coastal artwork depicts the lighthouse-to-lighthouse concept, while a QR code accompanied by “Escanea y protege la bahía” directs drinkers toward the conservation effort.

With this being a limited release, availability at each location will depend on remaining inventory.

More Than a Beer Collaboration

What makes De Faro a Faro particularly interesting is how closely the beer has been tied to the place behind it.

Boxlab and Rincón Beer Company aren’t simply using Puerto Rico’s west coast as inspiration for the name and artwork. The release provides another platform for the campaign seeking to protect the marine environment connecting their respective communities.

From the Punta Borinquen Lighthouse to the Rincón Lighthouse, the collaboration highlights a stretch of coastline shared by marine life, fishermen, residents, businesses, and visitors.

That gives De Faro a Faro a story that extends beyond what’s inside the can.

PRBG Final Pour

MPA: De Faro a Faro brings Boxlab Brewing Co. and Rincón Beer Company together for a 4.4% ABV Coco Lima Lager built around Pilsner malt, coconut, and lime — but the real distinction of this limited release is the mission attached to it.

From its name and can artwork to the October 2 launch, the collaboration puts the spotlight on the waters stretching between two of Puerto Rico’s west coast lighthouses and the campaign seeking to protect them.

MPA: De Faro a Faro launches Friday, October 2 at The Beer Box in Aguadilla, with limited 12-ounce cans also available through Boxlab Old San Juan and Rincón Beer Company while supplies last.
