Hora Dorada IPA is a bright, hop forward IPA that marks the beginning of Bayamón’s newest brewing chapter. When La Esquinita Jardín Cervecero made the leap from serving great craft beer to brewing its own beer at La Esquinita Brew House, it marked an exciting milestone for Puerto Rico’s craft beer scene.

Rather than opening with a long list of styles, the brewery chose to introduce a focused lineup led by Hora Dorada IPA, one of its first flagship beers and a showcase of the brewery’s hop forward philosophy. The brewery’s move to producing beer on-site represents a new era for Bayamón, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy beer brewed just steps from where it’s poured.

At 6.2% ABV, Hora Dorada IPA embraces the modern American IPA style. Brewed with Citra, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops, it pours a striking pale yellow with a clean, inviting appearance. The recipe was intentionally designed to keep malt in the background, allowing the vibrant hop character to take center stage.

The result is an IPA that feels bright, aromatic, and incredibly approachable—a beer that captures everything many craft beer enthusiasts love about contemporary hop-forward brewing without becoming overly heavy or aggressively bitter.

Hora Dorada IPA Aroma & Flavor Profile

Aroma

Opens with expressive hop aromas. Fresh grapefruit, orange zest, ripe mango, pineapple, and hints of passion fruit rise from the glass, followed by light pine and floral notes contributed by Simcoe. The aroma is vibrant without becoming overpowering.

Malt Character

This beer was intentionally brewed to be low on malt, creating a clean foundation that lets the hops shine. Delicate cracker like grain notes provide just enough balance while keeping the overall profile light, crisp, and highly drinkable.

Hop Presence

This is where Hora Dorada truly earns its name. Citra delivers bright citrus, Mosaic layers in tropical fruit complexity, and Simcoe contributes subtle pine and resin. Together they create a modern IPA with plenty of flavor while maintaining excellent balance rather than overwhelming bitterness.

Finish

The finish is clean, moderately dry, and pleasantly crisp. A lingering citrus bitterness remains just long enough to remind you it’s an IPA before encouraging another sip. The restrained malt body keeps the beer refreshing from start to finish.

What to Expect

Hora Dorada IPA is an excellent introduction to La Esquinita Brew House’s brewing philosophy. Rather than chasing extreme bitterness or hazy sweetness, the brewery has focused on creating an IPA that highlights expressive American hops with exceptional drinkability.

Expect a beer that’s bright, refreshing, and full of citrus and tropical character while remaining balanced enough to enjoy pint after pint. Whether you’re already an IPA enthusiast or looking to explore the style, Hora Dorada offers an approachable yet flavorful experience.

For visitors to La Esquinita Jardín Cervecero, ordering Hora Dorada means tasting one of the beers that launched the brewery’s new chapter as an on site producer. It’s more than just a flagship IPA; it’s the foundation of Bayamón’s newest brewing story.

“Bright, crisp, and unapologetically hop-forward, Hora Dorada IPA marks the beginning of a new brewing chapter for La Esquinita Brew House.”
